We recently upgraded our server from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.1, but since ionCube's PHP7.1 encoder isn't out yet we rolled back to PHP 7.0. Our main WP site is working fine, but our WHMCS installation wasn't working due to an issue with ionCube for PHP 5.3 being used by Softaculous. I found this post on the forums, downloaded the PHP 5.6 encoded files from the reply, and put them into our hooks directory and the site worked fine.

We also have a few custom script installs, so I needed to change the softaculous_extras file. Regardless of what changes I make, and whether they're made through vim or by pulling the file down and editing in Notepad++, the WHMCS parts of the site throw another server error saying there's an unexpected asterisk at the end of a licensing file. I'm not sure that this is an issue with Softaculous, but editing the extras file is what causes that error.

Hi,

The ioncube loaders for PHP 7.1 were released recently. You can try to download the ioncube loaders from their site.

Regarding the Softaculous module we do have encrypted files that support PHP 5.2.x through 7.x
You can download the appropriate file for the PHP version you are using here :
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/WHMCS_Auto_Install_Module#Download_and_Upload

Regarding the syntax error in softaculous_extra.php it could be possible you did not uncomment the code correctly.

If you can email us the file at support@softaculous.com or post the contents of softaculous_extra.php here we can check this for you.
