We have a server with Softaculous installed but the "Email  users of newer versions" button is not working when listing the outdated software.

I am at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this.  I'm not getting any errors, not seeing anything that leads me in one direction or another.  Simply no e-mail is sent.  The checkboxes beside the users are selected.

I don't know where else to look.

Apparently Softaculous gets this e-mail address from:

/home/<user>/.softaculous/user.php

And not from

/home/<user>/.contactemail

The /home/<user>/.softaculous/user.php is only generated after the cPanel user clicks the Softaculous link in their cPanel.  So if a user has not clicked the Softaculous link in their cPanel and generated the user.php file, then they won't be notified of script updates with this feature.

Is there a particular reason why this feature can't read the e-mail address in /home/<user>/.contactemail or /home/<user>/.cpanel/contactinfo and use that e-mail address instead of having to depend on /home/<user>/.softaculous/user.php existing?

Hi,

Sir, he would have logged into softaculous once to install the script.
At that time the user.php is created and information is taken from cPanel itself.

Not necessarily.

If the Softaculous library has just been installed and scripts have been imported into Softaculous from a previous, different script library.  This is where we see this issue.

We second to that.

We imported Fantastico users on five servers and tried to notify them about oudated software.

Unfortunately just single server shown "The users of the selected installations were notified about the available updates."

When we started to investigate we found that script show the message only when user have user.php file! Selecting other users blindly (it is the worse  thing!) ignore them. So if we have just SINGLE user which has user.php AND we select all other users, script will show that emails were sent, but it actually will send one single email!

I highly advise to provide more detailed output, especially about number of sent/unsent emails.

P.S. Perhaps some API calls to make one-time user.php generation?..

Let us know how we may track this bug status (URL, number, etc.). Do you have Bugzilla or similar Bug tracker?
