I am assuming you use Direct Admin.

The script will update via the CRON. The files are owned by Root and hence its not allowed to save when Direct Admin is run. The cron will run as Root and update the system.

Abuout Settings: In direct Admin the PHP is not allowed to access files if its not 0777
Just CHMOD the file /usr/local/directadmin/plugins/softaculous/images/universal.php to 0777
