AMPPS 4.6.7 & PHP 5.6.9 on Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 4Gb server
I am getting the message -- A newer version of phpMyAdmin is available and you should consider upgrading. The newest version is 3.4.9, released on 2011-12-21. What is the best way of updating phpMyAdmin in AMPPS please?

Hi,

The AMPPS 1.5 version already has phpMyAdmin 3.4.9. Right hand side of the Homepage of phpMyAdmin should show you the current version. If the current version is 3.4.9, you can skip the below warning message. Clear the browsers cache if you are unable to see it.

I can see AMPPS 1.5 version already has phpMyAdmin 3.4.9. as an install script, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the pre-installed version AMPPS 1.5 itself uses, at least not in my case.  Right hand side of the Homepage of phpMyAdmin shows Version information: 3.4.7, latest stable version: 3.4.9 as the current version. I have cleared the browser's cache again, but that isn't the problem.  This looks like a bug in the 1.5 install/upgrade script.  Terence.

Hi,

How did you update the AMPPS Installation ?

Right Click on Ampps.exe and click Properties. Let us know the version.

To update phpMyAdmin you need to run Ampps-1.5-update.exe from http://www.ampps.com/download

Only Softaculous is updated automatically. You will have to run an update to get latest AMPPS Binaries which includes latest PHP, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, etc and many bug fixes.

Before updating, its better to take backup of whole Ampps folder.

It updated itself automatically. The version reported by the file itself is 1.3.0.0 but the AMPPS home page is reporting "Powered By AMPPS 1.5 © 2012 Softaculous Ltd." and the phpMyAdmin version is reporting RELEASE-DATE-3.4.7 Sun Oct 23 12:16:04 UTC 2011 as the last update.  I'll download the updater and see if that helps.  I have already run AMPPS update and updated all the binaries.  That's not the problem.  The problem is that the automatic update which updated AMPPS to 1.5 or 1.3.0.0 whichever it is, didn't work as intended and didn't update to the latest version of phpMyAdmin in particular which is what I have noticed - so far.  Terence.

OK, many thanks.  Ampps-1.5-update.exe did the trick and everything seems to be updated now.  Terence.

Hi, I've looked through the forums prior to posting and this seems the most relevant (in fact pretty much identical) so I'll post here as it still seems to be an issue (for me anyway).

I DLed the whole package yesterday (v2.2) and installed. Then WordPress. Great & thanks a million!

But I notice PHPMyAdmin shows "A newer version of phpMyAdmin is available and you should consider upgrading. The newest version is 3.5.5, released on 2012-12-20". Here it suggests downloading the update from http://www.ampps.com/download and there is indeed an 'Update Package (Only Windows)' which I assumed might be what I need.

Downloading it, I notice it's v1.9 (might be useful as a suggestion to post on page what version update you're getting) which I wouldn't need since I've 2.2 so I cancelled this (though it says 1.9 in the Control Center 'About' and 2.2 in http://localhost/ampps/) .

So now what to do? I'm loath to 'fly solo' ex-AMPPS into the bowels of PHPMyAdmin and Apache without checking with you folks first. Suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion. As you can see on download page, Ampps maintains two versions, one Ampps which is 1.9 and second Softaculous Ampps which is 2.2

Both are independent of each other. Both are upgraded separately. Softaculous included in Ampps i.e Softaculous AMPPS is an auto-installer. And Ampps is a Stack with Control Center.

For more info you can read our wiki :
http://www.ampps.com/wiki
Btw phpmyadim is not updated in Ampps yet.

Thanks for the response. I don't see the AMPPS stack available separately from the Softaculous auto-installer (highly useful), but I see your point on the versions of each as separate, given Softaculous's Admin Panel abilities as distinct from the stack components.

So for PHPMyAdmin, you mention it is not updated in AMPPS yet, so do I wait for something (a new relaease/upgrade of the AMPPS package) or do I proceed with an independent update of PHPMyAdmin?

I rarely use it so just need to know whether it will get auto-updated or if I need to do anything other than wait until you push it out as an auto-update.

Hi,

You can wait for the next version of AMPPS stack which will be released soon, in it you can get the latest version of phpMyAdmin.

I just downloaded and installed AMPPS 2 (build date 28jan2013) on Mac (Mountain Lion), and it's working fine, but says a newer version of phpmyadmin is available.
Currently running: 3.5.6
Latest stable: 4.0.0 (3may2013)

Will this be updated at some future date? When it becomes available, will it be updated by running Amupdate.app or will I need to run something else to update some/all of the AMPPS components?

Hi,

phpMyAdmin's update will be available only when the new version of Ampps is launched.

But you can install it from Softaculous Enduser Panel. It has the latest version. Access the following link after starting Ampps to install phpMyAdmin.
http://localhost/ampps/index.php?act=software&soft=279

Does that mean I will end up with both versions installed? I tried the installer and it worked fine. Guess that means I can run either version?
