Some(many?) scripts do offer a choice of databases. MySql is not always best choice. I am for instance having issues with PHPMyFAQ. I cannot update because my shared hosting provider still offers an older/outdated version of Maria db. Also for peace of mind I find it quite convenient with regard to backups to have only one database file within the path and not having to backup separately. For me personally this refers to two scripts: PHPMyFAQ and LuxCal
