Totally revamp the UI, What is Webuzo? A Scriptinstaller or a Controlpanel? (8 Replies, Read 16751 times)

Hi all,

we had this discussion already with the webuzo team and believe we hit some open ears for that, but now want to start a public discussion and listen what you think about it.

As we started exploring Webuzo we were not quite sure what it is, a scriptinstaller with integrated controlpanel, or a controlpanel with a subsection called scriptinstaller.

We tested all well, we integrated UI Experts to judge about easy of use, we put some novice users in front of it and gave them certain tasks (add a domain, an email address, install a script and so on.)

Well, the result was not a surprise for me personally. Nobody really understood the product and most of the users had difficulties they would not have with compareable products. Even some of our Administrators were confused during use, although (with respect to their general experience) they could handle it easier.

Navigation is confusing, you never really know where you are and how to get back. You can´t really brand Webuzo upfront before delivering to clients (on a VPS for example) and thousands more things like that.

That brought us to the question: what is Webuzo?

And our clear answer was:

No idea, but it should be a Controlpanel with integrated Scriptinstaller.

Let´s face it: When do you need a scriptinstaller in a single user CP? I bet 90% of all users use it once to install wordpress, Joomla or something like this and then.... maybe for a reinstall. But most of the time, they add new emailaddresses, change ftp passwords, install a certificate, set a password for a directory, have a look at the logs, watch statistics and so on.

But currently, the Scriptinstaller is overwhelming the UI and the confusing concept makes it impossible for us to use it as a general offer to clients. We are simply afraid of the support burden that may arise out of it being too heavy.

So our suggestion was:

Make Webuzo a full Controlpanel with the proper look & feel and subordinate the installer part.

What do you think about? What is your experience? Any Suggestions?

We would love to hear and share the ideas.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.
We understand that the UI should be revamped which is in the works.

But Webuzo will not become a multi-user panel.
It will have all the features of a panel for a single user but not multi users.

Webuzo is aimed to VMs and Servers who want to deploy apps and use it for them only.
Its not for shared users.

The UI and website will be revamped by July end.

Regards,
Alon

Glad to hear, there is nothing to say against a single-user CP. From my point of view a single-user CP is an advantage for use with VPS since in this scenario it is more about "managing the VPS" then "managing different users webspace".

Keen to see how the revamped Webuzo will work.

Open source, web and security passionate
Hi,

I think what is seriously missed in Webuzo as Control Panel is

  • Antivirus and Antispam for email
  • Black and White listening for email
  • Auto responder for email
  • DKIM and SPF support
A control panel without a SPAM protection and a possibility to set auto responder for email is a little bad for manage emails.
User can't implement it by himself, is not easy and the risk is make the VPS KO.
Also need implement support for TLS on FTP this is a security need from the last update. Some free provider support already secure FTP.
FTP should set FTP with TLS support as default or easy to activate and deactivate normal FTP who can be vulnerable.
All other think I have read here I can agree except i fond Webuzo easy to use and not difficult.Just missed some important think.
Will be awesome also see two step authentication supported and maybe error log neater where the days log are not mixed by in the right order, easy to find the errors of the day. Thanks for start this topic, I agree. I love Webuzo and hope to see improvements soon.
Also I AM asking if Apache 2 is well supported by Webuzo because I AM unable to migrate to new Apache 2, as I do, my server stopped to work.

I gotta admit i like webuzo as a single user control panel for vps and dedicated servers, i hardly use the script installer i simply use it to manage my sites and i feel it's quite straight forward to use but lacks so so many features which is a shame because i would have no issue purchasing a premium license.

Nope. there's been no change to it. It's like anything here, they say they'll add this, change that but nothing actually happens. I was looking at some suggestions the other day that was said to be but on the to-do list, these posts were from years ago and are still not included in webuzo.

I can´t confirm that. I remember a feature request of having encrypted TLS connections to powerdns servers which were implemented after very short time (2 weeks if i remember right). Btw. that was for virtualizor, not Webuzo

It actually helps a lot explaining why this new feature is so important for all users.

And if you compare that to feature requests with CPanel (just to name one)... I have seen really important feature requests running for years without being implemented by the CPanel devs.

Hi,

This is to inform that our developers team is already working to revamp the UI. You can check the image attached below.

The revamped UI has already been launched for Softaculous. The same is being integrated in Webuzo and the new UI will be launched soon along with many bug fixes.

We request for your patience and support.
