I suggest to delete the scripts that have not been updated for more than 2 years or at least let them in an outdated sections before going into an "history" section and then be liberated into the intersideral space :)

I'm not saying you don't update scripts, i say some scripts stop development long time ago.

Hi,

Yes sir I understood your question. I was referring to disabling Outdated scripts which are no longer developed and we post about the same on the news blog. For eg :
We recently removed the following scripts :

Just examples but my estimation is around 15-20 scripts completly outdated

PHPOnline no updates since 2008.

I should have noted the dates for the previous ones but in general it's even worse (2006 and so on), they just allow to make grow the number of supported scripts by Softwaculous but at the end it gives bad image/feeling/opinion to visitors when they see a lot of supported scripts are from an old age.

Are outdated scripts still planned to be suppressed ?

Why do we see "Current Version    2.0 Latest Version      2.0" in ampps admin section updates while only 1.9 is available for download since a long time ?

That's excellent news, thanks you.
Release Date miss on a lot of scripts but i imagine it will be resolved over time

Posted By: Brijesh on January 5, 2013, 8:43 am | Post: 22
Hi,

We are adding the release date in the packages that we update daily or the new scripts so as and when script updates are available we will be adding the release date while updating the packages.

Why is it difficult to suppress outdated scripts from Ampps ?

Posted By: Brijesh on March 1, 2013, 1:00 pm | Post: 24
Hi,

There are a few users still using those scripts. We will disable them soon.

Maybe an outdated section for old scripts could be helpful then so that we would be very reactive on "future old scripts" :)

That's also useful for people discovering that there is no use to take interest into a given script they don't know because it's outdated and no updated anymore

Posted By: Brijesh on March 1, 2013, 1:09 pm | Post: 26
Hi,

We will think of it and either make a separate section or disable the scripts soon.

Nearly all scripts which don't have a release date can be removed now i think

Posted By: Brijesh on September 29, 2014, 7:37 am | Post: 28
Hi,

We are working on a model where the outdated scripts will be disabled by default and if a user wants to use that script he will have to get it enabled from admin. We have this because we have users that use these scripts hence we cannot completely remove it.

We should be having this in the next version or latest in the version after that.

In the "Blogs" section, here are the scripts concerned :

Open-Blog
LifeType
Pixie
Nucleus CMS
Chyrp
eggBlog

For Micro Blogs :

StatusNet
PageCookery
Storytlr

I will continue to browse other categories so i believe i will continue to find a lot of scripts like these so seriously my suggestion is : don't waste :
- your time
- our time
- our disk space
- our network for updating per default unecessary scripts

Posted By: Kynao on November 17, 2014, 4:39 pm | Post: 31
I can't believe there are so many scripts still not categorized in a outdated subsection :)

Whatever, for forums :

AEF
punbb
XMB
Phorum

For Portals/CMS :

Mambo
sNews
jCore

BIGACE

For image galleries :

For social networking :

Hi,

Sir we have reviewed the mentioned scripts and there are scripts that are used by several users hence we cannot remove them.

However we will see if we can disable them in future.

As of now you can disable the scripts from your server using the following guide :
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/Enable/Disable_Scripts

If the scripts are disabled they will not be downloaded on your server and it will neither consume your disk space nor bandwidth.

The idea is not to remove them but to :

- organize them in a "outdated scripts" category so that we are informed and aware of what we should not take interests into scripts who reached somekind their end of life.

- to not install their package after the initial softaculous installation but only the active projects.

Hi,

Yes we are already working on a separate category for this and will classify them soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in implementing this.

We have added a red icon next to the scripts that are not updated since 2 years. You can go to Softaculous Admin panel -> Software page and you can uncheck all the outdated scripts using the checkbox provided there and save the settings.

This will disable the outdated scripts.

Hi,

We have released Softaculous 5.0.0 which resolves the issue.

In Softaculous Enduser panel, we have added a notice on the script's overview/installation page, so that whenever a user goes to install a script which is outdated, he is informed before proceeding with the install.

Also, in Softaculous Admin Panel, on the Home page, we have added a notice informing the number of outdated scripts which the admin can Disable from Softaculous Admin panel -> Software page by unchecking all the outdated scripts. Please note that we have added a red icon next to the scripts that are not updated since 2 years.

You can find complete list of changes released in Softaculous 5.0.0 here :
https://www.softaculous.com/news/softaculous/softaculous-5-0-0-released-15077.html

Let us know if you still face any issues.
