I am beginning to work on a partially completed website that uses PHP.  I haven't worked on a website in years.  I am new to PHP and started working on a tutorial.    I want to develop locally, so I installed AMPPS on my Win7 laptop.  The tutorial said to create a simple PHP file in the web server's root directory. I don't know where to put this file.  The places I have tried have not worked.  So I think there must be some settings that need to be made and I have no clue.  I have tried to put my PHP file in:c:\Program Files(x86)\Ampps\Apache\hello.phpc:\Program Files(x86)\Ampps\Apache\htdocs\hello.php  I have also tried http://localhost/hello.php  and http://127.0.0.1/hello.php and I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"  When I try http://localhost/ I get a Ampps page with the folder cgi-bin under Name and yesterday's date under Last Modified.  Can someone help me get Apache and/or PHP setup properly? Thanks!
