I'm posting in suggestions, but I think this is closer to a bug. I noticed, now that I can auto upgrade Joomla, auto upgrade fails if the DB/version of Joomla doesn't match what Softaculous thinks it is. This is of course cause by an admin doing an update from within Joomla. However, when you do a manual upgrade in Softaculous, it will come back and report the version difference and ask you if you want to update Softaculous records. Then you can proceed with an auto upgrade. I hope I'm making sense!
My suggestion, as I've never seen Softaculous incorrectly report the wrong version, is why not have the auto upgrade process first detect the current version and if it's different from its internal records update that, then proceed with the upgrade?
