Hello,

I'm the maintainer of eveBB (evebb dot net), and I'd like to request its
inclusion in the Softaculous catalogue.

The short version: Softaculous has carried FluxBB for many years, but
FluxBB has been abandoned upstream since 2021. eveBB is its direct,
actively maintained continuation - fully schema-compatible with FluxBB
1.5 (an existing FluxBB board switches to eveBB in place) - modernised
for today's hosting:

- PHP 8.1-8.4
- MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or SQLite (single file, no DB server)
- bcrypt passwords (transparent migration of legacy hashes), hardened
  CSRF protection, login throttling
- visual editor writing standard BBCode, responsive default style
- built-in one-click updater: releases are GPG-signed and SHA-256
verified before a single file is installed
- plugin system (polls, tags, badges, 2FA, social sign-in, backups and
more - each a single zip upload in the admin panel)
- free and open source, GPL v2 or later
- classic upload-and-go install: the web installer takes about two
minutes, so it fits Softaculous's copy-mode packaging today

Version 2.0.1 stable is current. Source is on GitHub under evebb/EveBB,
and the live community board (running eveBB itself) is at evebb dot net.

To make this easy, I've prepared a draft Softaculous package (info.xml,
install.xml in copy mode, and a script that assembles the payload from
our checksummed release) and I'm happy to adjust it to your requirements,
test against a dev install, or hand the packaging over to your team -
whichever you prefer. I maintain the project actively and will keep the
package current with releases.

Thanks for considering it,

Alan

Hi Punit,

Just following up on the eveBB review — happy to help with anything that came up or answer any questions your team has.

One thing worth mentioning since July: the version you took for review was 2.0.1, and we're now on 2.0.5 stable, with a few changes relevant to packaging — the installer now deletes itself after a successful install, and all release packages are GPG-signed as well as SHA-256 checksummed. The latest package is always at the same permanent link (github dot com/evebb/EveBB/releases/latest), and we maintain a package skeleton for Softaculous (info.xml + install.xml using softcopy to hand off to eveBB's own web installer) that we're glad to adapt to whatever your process prefers.

No rush at all — just wanted to check in and make sure nothing's waiting on us.

Alan
