 Where does Softaculous get user email when notifying users of new versions? (10 Replies, Read 6073 times)

I tried using:

Installations > Outdated Installations > Email users of new versions

Some messages bounced back to me. I found that those emails are not the one listed in the Cpanel's user contact email.

Where does Softaculous get the email address when notifying users of new versions?

Hi,

Sir Softaculous takes the cPanel user email by default but if a user wants to change they can change it from Softaculous Enduser panel -> Email settings. This email is stored in the /home/USER/.softaculous/user.php

Additional question:

In WHM, if I check the "Turn Off all Email to Endusers", I see that this disables the Email link in the end user but will Softaculous continue to send "new version updates" to  users regularly?

Hi,

Sir at the moment it does send the update notification, but it is not expected to send and we will be fixing it in the next version.

I see, okay thank you.

So I guess if I want Softaculous to send email reminders to users about outdated installations I should uncheck "Turn Off all Email to Endusers" right?

Hi,

Sir the "Turn Off all Email to Endusers" will not send email automatically via CRON but if you want to send the emails you can send it from the Softaculous Admin panel -> Installations -> Outdated Installations.

And if you want the users to be notified about the updates automatically i.e. when the new version is available you will have to leave the checkbox "Turn Off all Email to Endusers" unchecked.

Hi,

Sir I discussed with the developers and they said that "Turn Off all Email to Endusers" will disable all the emails except the update notification to the users. If you wish to disable the update notifications you need to select the "Disable End User Update E-Mails" checkbox.
