my currently apache installation via webuzo on my linode vps has been on able too read the php files i uploaded for a test run.
the php codes uploaded are
PHP Code

echo "<h3>Here you can view the PHP configuration on your server</h3>"; 
echo "hacking";
?>


and the output is
