Hi there

Apologies if this question has been asked before (although I have searched through these forums and the wider internet and can't appear to find what I'm looking for).

Is there anyway I can use Softaculous to auto-install a script and have it write to an existing MySQL database rather than have it create a new one?

I'm running Softaculous off cPanel and have been since Feb 2010 so I assume my version number is up to date as of then (i can't access the server from work so can't directly check)

Is anyone able to give me any pointers with this? I have some experience of set-up config but not loads. Cheers in advance.

Hi,

This is not recommended as scripts can clash.
You must allow Softaculous to create a DB.

So there's no way to overcome this?

Surely there must be a way to specify the new table prefixes in the existing database so there's no clash?

My hosting package has a set number of databases - I can hardly go creating a new database every time I'd like to install a script.

Thanks for your reply anyway but if creating a new database isn't an option, it's not really an option for me.

Its not possible in Softaculous.
You can try our remote installer AEFER:
http://www.aefer.com

But we will still recommend against using a single database for many scripts.
