Conf Dir    /etc/dovecot

when i enter i get this message

/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf: Permission denied


The changes are to be done in the email script that you have installed and not Dovecot.

Do not edit the Dovecot configuration or you will cause it to crash.  :P
