We do update the version in Softaculous records before auto upgrading but this is done only when the auto upgrades are performed by the Softaculous CRON. I just checked this and I see we do not do it when upgrading from the admin panel. We will make the changes to update the version in Softaculous records when upgrading from admin panel as well.
