As much as I appreciate the instructions given in response to my original post, I find them to be a bit complicated for a new user.

I found a wonderful solution called "Duplicator", a Wordpress plugin; and it works beautifully with MAMP.

I want to use AMPPS, but unfortunately, when I try to use the Duplicator plugin, AMPPS won't allow the plugin's "install.php" to create/access the local database for the blog.
