I'm wondering if it would be possible to give Softaculous the ability to re-use MySQL databases.
My issue is that unless you're offering unlimited databases (something that is unsustainable IMO), customers can only install the same number of scripts as they have databases. IE if they have 3 databases then they can have only 3 scripts installed.
Re-using a database shouldn't cause any issues because you would only have to make sure that you forced every table to have a prefix.

This way customers really can use all of the scripts on offer.
Is this possible?

Thanks,
Josh

All packages have been designed to accept the table prefix as OPTIONAL.
It will be really difficult to go through all the packages and edit them.

Also software vendors themselves recommend to have seperate Databases and only use one common DB only if there is no way out. But the RECOMMENDATION is for one software one DB.

Alons

Alons, I still think it's a good idea if the installer script can use an existing database, maybe as an advanced user option, to install the scripts. If a client wants to install 3 different applications, like for instance Joomla, SMF & Gallery2 (common combination), then each script will use a different prefix already. And it shouldn't be too difficult to check what prefixes are used already.
