Okay when I initially installed Softaculous I got a few check marks and a whole lot of red X marks along with errors that it couldn't update. So I thought okay, lets explore to see if I can figure this out. I go to the software and check the boxes and hit update and very few of the checkmarks I selected remained. Im not sure what to do here. I'm using cPanel.

What errors did it give you near the crosses.
It specifies whether there was an error downloading, saving etc

You can also try to run this as root:
Root> php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cron.php
