I have a working Wordpress blog (w/ a 5.6MB existing .sql database) that I'm currently running live on the web. I would like to download a copy of the blog to 'localhost' to make some design changes and test a few plugins; in other words, I want an exact copy locally to test on, so I can keep the online blog "error" free. I read the wiki page for importing a Wordpress blog, but I'm not understanding the instructions, nor do I think they apply to my situation -maybe I'm wrong.
My main questions are:
1. After downloading a backup of my existing blog, where do I put the blog folder for ampps to be able to use it?
2. What do I need to do to be able to open and run the blog in ampps?
I hope my questions are specific enough. I really need step-by-step instructions as I'm new to this.
Thank you so much for any help!
