Testing Drupal on server prior to facelifting the website, Installing Drupal on server in a /test folder, adding the content and then moving everything to the root, replacing the old website (1 Replies, Read 1839 times)
Hi, I created www.destinatii.tv some time ago. Now I would like to leave it as it is, upgrade and reconfigure the appearance using Drupal 7.18 (I can use a Softaculous installer provided by the webhosting company) and only afterwards make it public, replacing the old website.
Normally, Drupal recommends to install a test environment on a local computer, work locally, and publish the new content on the web server only afterwards. This does not work for me. I need to work on the server directly for a number of reasons.
My question: What happens when I move the Drupal installed with softaculous from the /test folder to the root of my account on the server? Wil Softaculous be able to update in the future my Drupal install correctly (since it would have moved from the original install location on level up)?
