Yes that is a restriction that we had to impose.
There is no way we can allow to delete the public_html folder.

However if you installed in a particular directory like aef then you may delete the folder.

ALons

Alons, this isn't really practice.  Cause now you're saying, " you can't install scripts in your website root - rather install them in a sub folder"

Why not rather keep a list of files that are being installed, and have the ability to remove those files & folders associated with the installed script? If Installatron & Fantastico can do it, so can you.

P.S. Maybe you should look into charging money for this script, to afford more developers / support staff for it. You boast about 100+ scripts available, but only 20% of the program actually works. While this is a good idea, it's only a hobby and can't be used by professionals. The amount of professional hosting companies far outweigh the amount of "kiddie hosts". Please re-think your strategies around this, or don't bother getting a lot of companies actually using it. It's better for us to purchase Installatron and use a professional company. Please don't see this as an attack on you personally, but rather a suggestion if you want this product to be better than Fantastico & Installatron.

Thans for your suggestion sir.
We will give deep thoughts to it.

As regards us developing and Maintaing Softaculous we will always do so even though we are free.
We will soon implement ads on Softaculous.com(not with the software) which will help us earn some money and get some more developers.

Also sir please can you specify which scripts are not working properly. No one except you have reported 80% failure.

I request you to open a Topic on each of the issues you found.

Regards,
Alons

Although I love Open Source Software (OSS) a lot, and love the concept behind it, the biggest problem with free software is that the developer looses interest, or worse the project dies without anyone taking care of it. And then we as clients sit with unhappy end-users / clients on our side, cause the software doesn't get updated. Please don't let this happen to your software. Employing / contracting extra developers can make this a very successful program, and not doing so could bring it down in flames quicker than anything else.

Hello,

The way I see can benefit us all is like GPLhost does.

Offer web hosting to end-users using the softaculous installer as an attraction.

You can use DTC as control panel and by featuring the DTC/softaculous combination instead of cPanel/Fantastico you can add a "no commercial software licenses used" label.

Then make it clear by not having the cost of commercial licensing translated to your customers you can offer a better web hosting price. It can attract regular hosting users, plus users who enjoy supporting open-source software -while getting something for it- (i.e. instead of just a donation, they do monthly support and get a hosting package for their websites).

Fellow users/contributors from other hosts can engage in development of and we all benefit.

You as main coder (alons) are always motivated to improve the software for your own hosting service and to keep the users directly funding you happy.

www.softaculous-host.com ?

Best regards,
Victor
