Hello Guys,        How do I change the default port from 80? My server has websites on port 80 that have to be available at all times. Please advise... Thanks

Hi,

Are you using http://remote.softaculous.com/ ?

At the moment it is not possible to install a script on your domain on port other than 80.

Then I lose a whole server, that's not good at all, Can this be installed on a VPS and deploy to my webhosting servers?

Hi,

Which panel are you using ?
At the moment we support the following panels :
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/Supported_Control_Panels

If you are using any of the above panels you can install Softaculous :

Hi,

Softaculous Remote is not dependent on the port. It needs only correct FTP details. The home directory of the FTP user should be the DocumentRoot of new VirtualHost.

You can refer the following guide if you are using Apache as a Web Server:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/examples.html#port

I am not trying to argue with you but why is there a panel that is displayed on port 80 at my hostname or ip address this tells me that my server would be useless with your software answering requests on port 80, you have a panel on port 80 and then on the ports which I belive is 2400 and 2401 or something like that.

Thanks for the info though,
Michael

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion. Now I understand you are using Softaculous Remote.

Sir, Softaculous Remote is meant for hosts who want to provide their users to install scripts on one click on their server via FTP. Yes, whole VPS will be dedicated to Softaculous Remote.

And http://remote.softaculous.com is an implementation of Softaculous Remote on one of our servers. Users who don't have any panel or vps but just FTP details can install scripts using our remote.softaculous.com

If you are a single user and want to use Softaculous, I suggest you to install Webzuo ( http://www.webuzo.com ). It is an Application Stack which can be used on any Virtual Machine. Webuzo is a Single User Control Panel which helps users deploy Web Apps (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc) or System Apps (Apache, NGinx, PHP, Java, MongoDB, etc) on their virtual machines.

How to install Webuzo :
http://www.webuzo.com/wiki/Install
