I'm very interested on AMPPS, after having used for years MAMP Pro, that by now can be defined a dead project and for sure a non supported product.

Now the problem is how to move to AMPPS without losing everything I managed to setup, with a lot of effort.

So, here's what I'd need to be able to do on AMPPS:
  • Being able to debug the code from PhpStorm
  • Being able to run php script from the command line without using the defaul Mac's php installation. That is, I need to always use the same php version and configuration that is used by AMPPS.
  • Same thing as for xDebug

Is all of that possible, or should I stick with MAMP?

PhpStorm is an IDE. So I don't think you should face any problem in working with AMPPS.

Yes you should be able to use PHP through command line without any issues.

Just copy the proper xdebug.so in respective php's extension folder. It should work without any issues. FYI, All PHP's are compiled on Mac OS X 32bit machine. So make sure extension is also 32bit.

Since we have not worked with xDebug or PhpStorm we won't be able to help you much with the configuration.

Let us know if you are facing any issues related to Ampps. We will be glad to help.

Also you can open a support ticket by mailing us at support@ampps.com for any help.

Thank you tidus,

As for phpStorm, I know it's an IDE, but since it provides support for xDebug (as well as other extensions, such as phpUnit, etc.), I needed to know ifI would have find troubles configuring it properly: doing so on MAMP has been quite a pain and is still not 100% properly configured.

Anyway I will give it a try as soon as I find the time.

MY main concern is that having both MAMP and AMPPS installed I may face some conflict.

Yes. conflicts that can occur are the ports. Just make sure AMPPS Apache uses port 80.
