Hi,

I've been trying to password protect a directory with .htaccess and I get a 500 error when trying. I am simply testing. This is what I have in the .htaccess file:

AuthName "Restricted Area"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /www/mydomain.com/pass/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
require valid-user

I think the file path may be wrong?

The .htpasswd in the pass directory has this in it:
sluiting:KuVt0zKHWe3UE

Thanks!

Do you mean from C:\  for the full path? I've tried /Ampps/www/mydomain.com/pass/

:)

AuthName "Restricted Area"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /www/cablecenter2.aig/pass/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
require valid-user

The password is bday4857
and the second one is test

I wonder if the password file is wrong somehow?

Also, I have Ammpps installed on Windows 7 64 bit. So, my actual address to the domain looks like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ampps\www\cablecenter2.aig\pass

Hi,

Sorry I misunderstood that you were using MAC hence I suggested that path.

Please try the path as follows with double quotes :
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Ampps\www\cablecenter2.aig\pass\.htpasswd"

i dont have a solution for you but i wanna tell you something about installing ampps...

the best way to install ampps is in C:/ampps/

so you dont have white spaces in your folders
because if you do it makes difficult to install apache mods or php extentions etc

Thanks Brijesh! The
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Ampps\www\cablecenter2.aig\pass\.htpasswd" worked.

Also, thanks DeJaVu. Maybe I'll do a reinstall at some point and move the AMPPS directory.
