Whenever a new mySQL database is created, it seems that a default username / password gets assigned to it.

If I forget to write down the default username / password, and forget what they were, is there any way to reach into AMPPS and extract the username / password for a particular mySQL database?

Hi,

You can check the details in Enduser Panel -> Edit Installation Page of that Installation.
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/How_to_edit_an_installation

Before installing any script, you can configure Gmail or any working SMTP Server in Admin Panel and get the installation details in your mail. (as shown below)

Note: You will have to also set receivers email in enduser panel.
