I'm still using 2.1 because it never alerted me of an update. When I https://www.dropbox.com/s/k18xpjx7bc6oca4/Screenshot%202014-04-29%2023.40.44.pngcheck the about page, it says the version is up to date which it isn't because 2.3 is out.

What is the best way to upgrade? 2.1 Was the first version I installed so this is new to me. I don't see any docs for Mac Upgrades either so unsure about a manual upgrade.

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. AMPPS 2.1 is not upgradable to latest version due to major changes. You will have to take backup of all your data and upgrade it manually.

Okay no problem.

Do I just backup needed stuff and then run the installer overwriting everything? Are there instructions anywhere for this?

Hi,

Folder Information:
  • /Applications/AMPPS/conf : Configuration files of Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc are stored here
  • /Applications/AMPPS/var : MySQL Database Folder
  • /Applications/AMPPS/private : Used by Softaculous Ampps for storing installation details. Data Directory and Backups of the installation is also here.
  • /Applications/AMPPS/www : Public HTML (Document Root)
  • /Applications/AMPPS/ampps/data : AMPPS Data (alias, domains are stored here) Note: httpd-vhosts will be generated automatically. If domain files is found here.
Take the backup of the above things. And also if you have created any apache, php or mysql conf file separately or created any folder for domains or alias', take a backup of that too.
Overwriting the installation may take too much time. So better uninstall after taking a backup.
