Great Forum

Very small and fast, not as many features as others, but it is very elegant. One major problem though, is that it has only email verification. Spambots will sign up like crazy.

Small, lightweight and fast. If you want to add more functionality it's not terribly difficult to do. It's a relative newcomer but I can see it becoming popular quickly.

Quite possibly one of the best PHP based forum software around. The simple way it has been coded means that it's easy to download and install mods that add new features, and it uses very very little resources. For example I have a forum with over 100000 posts and it only uses 30MB on the SQL database and even less on disk. Perfect for basically all forum uses, and as I said, it's so easy to weave into the rest of your site due to it's simplicity.
Simple,

I only need a small private forum, so plumped for the best I could find in simplicity and low overhead. FluxBB has been great overall. Only problem is once or twice a month it refuses to take a post--no biggie, I keep a few spares around which I can edit and move. As a previous vBulletin 4 owner, I'm impressed. Well done devs. ETA Feb. 2015 The post problem mentioned above in my October 2014 review hasn't shown in a couple of months, so I guess it's fixed.
